Our Story & Inspiration

Joe & Bella was born from a personal family caregiving journey. When co-founder Jimmy Zollo moved his grandmother into an assisted living community, he witnessed her painful, daily struggle to get dressed. As a lifelong fashionista, she completely rejected traditional adaptive clothing, declaring it "too ugly" and medical-looking. It screamed "patient" rather than "person."

During that same transition, the family met Joe and Bella—two widowed Holocaust survivors whose remarkable strength, friendship, and humor helped them adjust to their new environment. Inspired by their spirit, and driven to create beautiful clothing that older adults would actually want to wear, Joe & Bella was founded. Guided by deep industry insights and groundbreaking work alongside organizations like AARP, we set out to prove that fashion can be both beautiful and effortless.
